About
Wafa AL-Ghatam is an architect and urban designer; in 2003 she commenced a PhD at the Bartlett School of Graduated Studies, University College London (UCL). Her current research explores the socio-economic implications of urban fabric of the villages absorbed by cities in Bahrain; Manama and Muharraq; using Space Syntax methodology.
Wafa, worked as a teaching assistant at University of Bahrain at Architecture & Civil engineering Department from 2001. Before joining University of Bahrain in 1998, Wafa worked for Symmes Maini & McKee Associates for Eliminatory School Project, Steffian Bradley Associates, Inc. & Amar Centre for Boston Islamic Society Culture Centre project in Boston. As well she worked for Space Syntax Limited in London and as a representative in Bahrain, on a range of projects within the UK and abroad including strategic planning of Jeddah city in Saudi Arabia. Her experience spans from Bahrain to the West, from architectural to urban projects.
